Connecting AI assistants via MCP
More and more people use an AI assistant in their work. Such an assistant only becomes really useful when it can reach the right data. That is what the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is for. It is an open standard that lets an AI assistant request data from other applications.
Earlier this year, we added MCP support to the platform our applications run on. An application can use it to offer its own MCP tools. This is now also available in production. Users can ask their AI assistant questions about their own data, for example to put together an overview of the past year, without running an export first.
The assistant works on behalf of the user. It signs in with a personal key and only sees the data of the user’s own organization, and only if the user has been given access to it. This lets users analyze their data with an AI assistant that supports MCP. Curious what this could mean for your organization? Get in touch.
